A2K-TDC-2M NMEA2000 Micro Cable Assembly - 2M

Available in various lengths, the cable assemblies can be used as either a drop cable from a NMEA 2000 backbone or to extend the length of the backbone cable.

Actisense Lite cable assemblies allow quick installation and come with quality reassurance as only the Actisense UL-certified cable is used.

NMEA 2000 cable includes five wires within a single waterproof cable: power and ground wires, two signal (data) wires, and a drain wire. The drain wire connects to the cable shield, which protects the signal, power, and ground wires from external Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and helps reduce RFI emission from the cable.

NMEA 2000 Lite cable can be used to create a backbone up to 100 meters in length. If the backbone length required exceeds 100 meters, the center of the bus can be extended with an NMEA 2000 mini cable to keep the outer Lite sections to the 100-meter maximum.

The maximum length of a drop cable (distance from the backbone) is 6 meters. It is important to limit each drop length to the minimum required, as the total of all drop lengths must not exceed 72 meters.

The Actisense range of NMEA 2000 connectors and cables has been designed using our specialist interconnect and NMEA knowledge.

The Actisense A2K-TDC-2M NMEA 2000 Micro Cable Assembly offers a reliable solution for establishing or extending your marine data network. Designed with precision, this 2-meter waterproof cable features five internal wires—power, ground, two data signals, and a drain—ensuring stable and interference-free communication between NMEA 2000 compatible devices. The cable’s shield, connected via the drain wire, provides robust protection against external Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), safeguarding your data integrity even in challenging electromagnetic environments.

Ideal for creating a backbone network up to 100 meters, the Actisense Lite cable assembly simplifies installation with its quick-connect design and UL certification, guaranteeing quality and safety standards. When longer backbone lengths are necessary, a center extension with an NMEA 2000 mini cable can help maintain optimal signal quality without exceeding the 100-meter limit. The 6-meter maximum drop cable length from the backbone ensures flexible positioning of devices while keeping the overall network within recommended specifications. Proper planning of drop and backbone lengths is essential to ensure network performance and compliance.

Constructed with high-quality materials, this cable features brass, gold-plated male contacts, and phosphor bronze, gold-plated female contacts, which provide excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. The black PVC housing and rubber O-ring seal deliver IP67-rated protection when mated, making this cable suitable for harsh marine environments. The use of 22 AWG power and drain wires, along with 24 AWG data wires, ensures efficient power delivery and high-speed data transmission. With a compact outer diameter of approximately 0.27 inches and a weight of just over 5 ounces, this assembly is easy to handle and install in tight spaces.

Designed to operate reliably from -20°C to +70°C and stored in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, the Actisense A2K-TDC-2M cable is a durable and versatile choice for marine electronics. Whether creating a new network or extending an existing one, this cable offers peace of mind with its proven design and industry-leading quality standards. For detailed installation instructions and technical specifications, please refer to the manufacturer’s manual available online.
