Autopilot Pump, 12 VDC, 1.7 Cubic Inches Per Second (For Ram Sizes of 14 Cubic Inches to 25 Cubic Inches in Volume)

The PUMPHRP17-12 is a reversing pumpset designed to interface the NavPilot series autopilot with a hydraulic steering system. The pump assembly incorporates a reversible gerotor gear pump, a two-piece gear housed in an eccentric ring. This allows for incredibly quiet, reliable and precise operation.

A hydraulic steering system consists of a hydraulic actuator and one or more steering wheel pumps, or helm pumps. As the steering wheel (helm pump) is turned in the port direction, hydraulic oil is pumped into the port hydraulic steering line. This oil is directed into the port side of the steering cylinder. As the cylinder moves to port, oil from the starboard side of the cylinder returns to the helm pump through the starboard hydraulic lines.

One end of the cylinder is fixed and the other is connected to a tiller arm, which is connected to a rudder shaft. With this connection to the tiller arm the linear movement of the cylinder to port is changed to rotary movement, which turns the rudder and steers the vessel to port. Moving the steering wheel to starboard produces the same reaction with oil being pumped out of the starboard line and returning through the port line.

If more than one helm pump is used, a return/fill line must be installed to connect the cases of all helm pumps together.

The output flow rate of the pumpset determines the speed of the steering cylinder. The PUMPHRP17-12 outputs 1.6 cu. in. of oil per second and requires a 12VDC input.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The Furuno PUMPHRP17-12 Autopilot Pump is a 12 VDC reversing pumpset designed to connect a NavPilot series autopilot with a hydraulic steering system. Built for hydraulic rams ranging from 14 to 25 cubic inches in volume, this pump assembly helps deliver precise steering control for compatible marine vessels while integrating with the vessel’s existing hydraulic steering components.
KEY FEATURES:

  • Reversible gerotor gear pump: Uses a two-piece gear housed in an eccentric ring for quiet, reliable and precise pump operation.
  • 12 VDC input: Designed for marine hydraulic steering systems requiring a 12-volt direct-current power source.
  • 1.6 cubic inches per second output flow: Provides the pump flow rate that determines the operating speed of the hydraulic steering cylinder.
  • NavPilot series compatibility: Designed to interface a Furuno NavPilot autopilot with a hydraulic steering system.
  • Hydraulic ram application: Intended for steering rams ranging from 14 cubic inches to 25 cubic inches in volume.PRODUCT DETAILS:
  • Brand: Furuno
  • Part number: PUMPHRP17-12
  • Product type: Autopilot reversing pump
  • Input power: 12 VDC
  • Output flow rate: 1.6 cubic inches of oil per second
  • Intended system: Hydraulic steering system with a NavPilot series autopilot
  • Applicable ram volume: 14 cubic inches to 25 cubic inchesA hydraulic steering system uses a helm pump to move hydraulic oil through the port or starboard steering lines and into the corresponding side of the steering cylinder. As the cylinder moves, its connection to the tiller arm converts linear movement into rudder rotation. The PUMPHRP17-12 supplies the reversing pump action required to support this steering process when used with an appropriate hydraulic autopilot installation. When a vessel uses more than one helm pump, a return/fill line must be installed to connect the cases of all helm pumps together. Confirm that the pump’s flow rate, voltage and applicable ram volume match the requirements of the intended hydraulic steering system before installation. This product may not be returned to the original point of purchase. Please contact the manufacturer directly with any issues or concerns.California Proposition 65 Warning:
