Virtually all rubber hose compresses (cold flow) after installation of a clamping device, resulting in an almost immediate torque loss that can exceed 80% of installation torque. Similarly, virtually all metal connections expand as a system heats up, and then contract as the system cools. Conventional worm gear, T-bolt, and other clamps are passive, in that expansion or contraction of components cannot be compensated for without re-tightening or loosening the clamps. This clamping system is an active clamping mechanism, which monitors and then compensates for the changes by actually changing diameter through a unique worm gear Belleville assembly.

Trident Marine 730-4000 Stainless Steel Constant Torque Clamp is designed for large hose connections that need more consistent clamping force after installation. Featuring a 5/8-inch-wide stainless steel band and an active constant-torque mechanism, this clamp helps compensate for changes that occur as rubber hose and metal connections respond to temperature and installation conditions.


Most rubber hose can compress, or cold flow, after a clamp is installed, which may cause significant torque loss. Metal connections can also expand as a system heats up and contract as it cools. Unlike conventional worm gear and T-bolt clamps that remain passive after tightening, the Trident Marine 730-4000 uses a unique worm gear and Belleville spring assembly to monitor and compensate for these changes by adjusting the clamp diameter. This design helps maintain more consistent clamping pressure without requiring routine retightening or loosening for those changes.
